Yoga Class FAQ's

Here’s a set of often asked question that covers the topics to help you feel comfortable and prepared:

What is yoga?

Yoga is a mind-body practice that combines physical postures, breathing exercises, and mindfulness to improve flexibility, strength, balance, and relaxation. At Mindful Moves, we focus on gentle, accessible techniques designed to enhance mobility and reduce stress without requiring advanced knowledge of yogic philosophy.

Do I need to be flexible to start yoga?

Absolutely not! Flexibility is something you build over time through regular practice. My classes are designed for all levels and emphasize natural, safe movement without pushing your body into extreme positions. Yoga is for everyone, regardless of starting flexibility!

Will props & mats be provided?

Yes, all necessary props, including yoga mats, blocks, and straps, will be provided. However, if you have your own mat and prefer using it, feel free to bring it along.

Should I eat before class?

It’s best not to eat a large meal within a few hours of your class, as it may make some movements uncomfortable and feel heavy. A light snack, like a banana, some avocado, or a few crackers, can help keep your energy up without feeling too full.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely—anything that feels good and isn’t too restrictive. Layers can be helpful, as you may want to stay warm during relaxation periods and cooler during active movement.

Is parking available?

Yes, there are 10 parking spaces available outside the church. If those are full, please park mindfully along the residential road.

What if I have an injury or health condition?

Yoga is often safe to practise. However please check with a health professional initially if you are unsure. Please inform me of any injuries or health conditions before class, so I can suggest modifications to make your practice safer and more comfortable.

How often should I practise yoga?

Consistency is key, but even one class per week can offer benefits! For deeper results, practicing just 12 minutes 6 times a week will bring more benefits than once a week & can help with flexibility, mobility, and stress relief. Listen to your body and choose what works best for you.

Can I bring a friend or family member to class?

Absolutely! Yoga is even better with friends and loved ones. Feel free to send them the link to book in!

Do I need any prior experience with yoga?

Not at all! My classes are designed for all levels, from absolute beginners to those with more experience. Each class is tailored to create a welcoming environment where everyone can practice safely and comfortably.

Can I attend class if I am pregnant.

I am currently not trained or insured for pregnancy yoga. However if you are practised in yoga you are welcome to class on this understanding and signing a medical waiver.  I do hope to offer pre-natal classes in the future.  I can also recommend suitable classes for you.
